Well, a lot has been going on lately - many changes
Here are a few updates to my summer goal list:
1. FIND A PLACE TO LIVE IN CHICAGO (Apartment or tiny tiny condo)
Most important of all, I want to live in Chicago by June. I am putting that out there now!
Finished! Me and dad found a place the first day we were looking. I thought it was going to take over 2 months and it took a weekend to find an apartment. I'm so excited for the area I'll be in as well as living on my own in the city. SO PUMPED!
2. Attend 4 outdoor concerts
I go to many indoor concerts, but there is nothing like an outdoor spring/summer concerts.
I bought a lollapalooza 3-day pass, expensive but worth it. There will be a shit ton of amazing bands this year. Since it was so expensive, I will count it as 3 outdoor concerts. Also, I bought a ticket for Saturday July 19's Pitchfork music festival in Union Park. I am also looking at a few other concerts, but you can consider this goal completed!
3. Start listening to 30 new music artists
I have a tendency to listen to what I know.
Honestly, I think I can cross off this goal. I download at least 5 new bands a week.
4. Meet and become friends (real, not Facebook) with 5 new people
Originally it was going to be 10, but I am realistic.
I have legitimately met and become real friends with about 2 new people at this point. With moving into the city soon, I am sure I can easily knock this out by July.
5. Begin a graphic design gig, create at least 2 pieces of work
It's something I like to do in my free time, so I might as well start doing it for money or experience.
6. Get a front page post for a comedic website
This is super lame, but I KNOW I can write an entry that can get on the front page of site like "college humor".
This is going to be much more difficult than I expected. You have to have a lot of people notice your article to get any front page recognition. This may be a wash, but I'll try again soon-I have a few good ideas.
I still have to work on the remaining goals. I've got all summer to do it, though.

Jen and I were talking on Friday about how Ross from friends looked like Chris Gaines on the front of the "Redeye". I started to make the connection of Chris Gaines with EMO! and started to see what his whole game was about.
A little background on Chris Gaines: country singer Garth Brooks decided to ruin America more than he already was currently doing with his stupid country music by also becoming some weird emo-ish soft rock messenger of suck. The problem is, most people found Chris Gaines really creepy - it was supposed to start a whole new music career for Garth Brooks, but it failed.
Now maybe my timing is off, cause Chris Gaines didn't exist until emo already started in 1999, but maybe it was just the extra little push most troubled teens needed to start hating their dads and cutting themselves.
Maybe Chris Gaines had very little to do emo. All I am really saying, is that this should be a lesson to country singers and all music artists - don't try to re-invent yourself with someone lamer than you already are.

]]>When I was leaving work yesterday walking down Randolf, I saw a kid about 9 years old with a Bluetooth headset. I was totally blown away with so many questions in my mind:
* Who is this kid talking to so much he needs a Bluetooth, Big Bird?
* What kind of parents would buy a kid a headset nearly permanently attached to his skull?
* I was in college when I first got a cell phone, who does this kid think the fuck he is!?
This trickster was the least of my worries on the way to the train though. A few minutes later, I saw this little son of a bitch running across Michigan Ave. I took a quick snap shot of this, I might pass it along to the authorities tomorrow.
His parents should be ashamed...
I swear to God I pass by a local Chicago news anchor every morning when I am entering my building. I do not know her name but I recognize her. Since ABC studios are across the street from building, she has to work there...
I always pass her and want to say "This just in...you're bangin!" and her to say "Local woman under arrest for murdering passing asshole." in her anchor woman voice. I don't have the balls to try it, yet.

The sad thing is, I just made the connection from Secret's "Because You're Hot" slogan to Paris Hilton's "That's Hot!" catch phrase. I am out of my element in pop culture, I think I am forgetting how to beat Mario World 3 in 10 minutes as I did before too! Random facts in my head instead of random games.
